According to predictions from globally renowned data analysis and consulting firm GlobalData, the total revenue of Singapore's pay TV market will decline at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.4% from 2020 to 2025 due to a decrease in IPTV subscription volume.
The latest "Singapore Telecom Operator National Intelligence Report" released by GlobalData shows that due to increasing consumer demand for OTT video platforms, the number of IPTV subscribers in the country will decline at a compound annual growth rate of 2% in the forecast period from 2020 to 2025. The penetration rate of pay TV households will also decrease from 39.3% in 2020 to 33.8% by the end of 2025.
Deepa Dhingra, an analyst in the telecommunications industry at GlobalData, said: "After users of Starthub (Singapore Telecom) have fully transitioned from cable TV to IPTV services, Starthub will become an IPTV dedicated platform in Singapore to provide pay TV services by 2025. During this period, SingTel (Singapore Telecom) The company will lead the local pay TV market by offering independent pay TV packages through promotional discounts, and has developed multiple bundled sales plans aimed at attracting new subscribers. SingTel has been offering discounts of up to 50% for various IPTV packages and offering free subscription services for up to three months, including multicast services bundled with fiber optic internet and pay TV services.
